3 Love Lessons From Your Animals by Val Heart

Have you ever experienced being loved unconditionally?

Without reserve or embarrassment, from someone who doesn’t care about your weight, whether you have makeup on, if you’re having a bad hair day, or have issues, woundings or baggage?  They don’t worry about whether you had a bad day at the office, had a argument with someone, or are Love Lessonshurting?

In our society, as we grow up, we received many subtle and not so subtle messages about being bad, how we get the wrong answer sometimes, and we suffer many painful and embarrassing experiences all of which make us feel we’re unworthy of being loved.  In self-defense, we learn to hide our hearts so we can fit in and conform so we can try to feel loved.

This is a very hurtful pattern that often continues throughout our lives. Until we learn to face our demons and can make new decisions about our worth, value and ability to be loved. It can be hard to find a safe, non-threatening place to really feel love and let that in to help heal our hearts.

Fortunately for animal lovers, our animals are here to teach us about how it feels to be loved unconditionally. They demonstrate day after day what it means to care about someone without fear of rejection, to be in relationship with others without judgment, how it really feels to be embraced and loved with a whole heart, and offer the experience of being welcomed exactly as we are.

They demonstrate day after day what it means to care about someone without fear of rejection, to be in relationship with others without judgment, how it really feels to be embraced and loved with a whole heart, and offer the experience of being welcomed exactly as we are.

Who better to teach us about unconditional love than a puppy, kitten, or horse?

I was recently speaking with an environmental engineer, a scientist and researcher dedicated to helping corporations reduce and eliminate their toxic emissions so they leave a smaller footprint on the planet.  This handsome, grey haired gentleman was used to being logical, scientific, and didn’t show or share his emotions easily.

But he started telling me about his dog, how she greeted him with exuberant joy every time he came home.  He commented that his wife and children had never welcomed him like she did. And he had tears in his eyes as he reconnected with how it felt to be greeted with such love, acceptance, and a wide open joyful heart after a hard day at work.  It lifted his cares and troubles, and helped him feel whole again.

Our wonderful animal teachers and companions are in many ways our best friends, our partners, and are the ones who know us better than anyone else.  They often choose to spend their lives with us helping us heal, loving us when we’re sick or sad…  Helping us in every way they can, they share our life experiences, and continually demonstrate what unconditional love really means.

Animals contribute to each of us and our planet in so many ways.

The wild ones keep the circle of life strong, each one contributing in their way to everyone else.  The native people knew that in order to stay healthy personally, and within their community, they must stay connected with the animals, treating them with respect and honor, listening and learning from them on many levels.

  1. Take a little time out each and every day to listen to and respect your animal teachers. Pay attention to what they are telling you.
  1. If they are ‘out of balance’, acting out in harmful or destructive ways, then notice where in your own life you may be out of balance or are incongruent within yourself.
  1. If they are offering their unique viewpoints, sharing love or joy or simply being themselves, then flow with them with gratitude and honesty. Open your heart and let their love and light shine into all the dark corners of your soul and spirit, body and mind.

This is the gift that our animals give us every day if we let them, if we take time to connect with our hearts, feel our gratitude and appreciation that they are in our lives.

We rediscover our connection with the planet and our own Divine nature when we reconnect with other beings – and doing that makes us better humans.

Every Animal Lover Needs to Know How to Talk to Animals by Val Heart

Animals are angels, teachers, guides and healers.  When we learn how to talk to animals, we discover how to recognize, respect and revere them for who they really are.  The profound process is a spiritual journey because learning how to talk to animals helps humans become better people. It’s an extraordinary, life changing experience because animals have a lot to say.  For instance, consider this incredibly true story of how I talked to a komodo dragon, and how that changed my life.

Every month, my Animal Talk Coaching Club students (graduates of the How to Talk to Animals Beginning Core Foundations course as well as Advanced Animal Talk Mastery course), gather to practice talking with animals so they can improve their intuitive skills and confidence.

That sunny day in June, we went on a fieldtrip to the San Antonio Zoo.  The student’s assignment was to wander through the zoo, find and talk to animals who were willing to talk to them.  What were their stories?  Where did they come from?  How did they get where they are now?  Tell us about their family life, their experience living in a zoo?  We were humbled to discover so very many wonderful wise ones (defined as master teachers, gurus, healers, guides and angels disguised as animals), all there waiting for us to talk at the zoo.

Some students felt confident that they could be of service to the animals by simply taking the time to connect and communicate.  They’ve learned that often deep healing, growth and evolvement comes from the simple act of attentive listening, acknowledging and respecting other’s experiences, insights and truth.  Eagerly they set off on their mission.

But other highly sensitive animal talk students lingered, worrying about talking to these zoo animals, fearing they would hear stories of abuse, trauma, loneliness, depression, sadness and anger.  In tears, they asked for my advice about how to handle the painful emotional stories they were convinced they would hear.  I told them to not be afraid.  Instead, choose to be courageous and fully present, to listen carefully with their heart to what the animal had to say.  Then, be sure to ask the right questions in the right way and in the right time so the animal felt safe and understood.  Feel what will be expressed and allow their emotions and reactions to surface.  Take time to honor that.  Finally, offer compassion, acknowledgment, and appreciation for being able to hear the animal’s voices.

In this way, they would serve the animals by letting them know that a human truly cared about what happened to them.  Many times healing occurs just through the art of listening and heartfelt conversation.  Nothing more is needed.  Bravely we all stepped forward, following our hearts and intuitive guidance to take us where we were needed most. The cacophony of sights, sounds and smells bombarded me as I tuned in and asked for guidance.

Of all the wonderful animals there, I immediately felt myself being drawn toward the komodo dragons.  Fascinated I tuned in and connected.  The dragon on the right had no use for humans or the crowd outside the enclosure, and was clearly not interested in talking to me.  However, as I focused on the second of the two komodo dragons, I felt our heart connection quicken and deepen.  Astonished and pleased, I realized that this huge lizard in his powerful, ponderous yet deceptively fast body was a “Wise One.”

Delighted that I had noticed him, he turned to look straight at me standing some distance away across the enclosure behind the glass retainer wall.  I had no idea how this conversation would go or how profound the opportunity being presented to me was, but I felt thrilled to commune with him.  Was he interested in sharing his experiences, or dispensing advice or enlightenment for a human woman?

After we greeted each other properly, I told him who I was and what I was doing there.  Tears sprang to my eyes as his compassion, spirit and big heart touched me deeply.

He asked, “What do you need child?  How may I help you today?”

I’d been divorced recently.  After living with my husband of almost 18 years, I found myself struggling with issues around personal safety.  I was feeling trapped by an intense fear of being alone at home with no one to protect me.  I felt restless, anxious, depressed and skittish, jumping at every little noise.  Taking what seemed at the time like appropriate measures to protect myself, I had fearfully withdrawn into my shell.  I was miserable and unhappy, and didn’t know how to recover my mojo again.  So I decided to ask for his advice.

He immediately informed me that I was experiencing such fear because I was identifying myself as a prey animal and had taken on the mindset of the hunted, not the hunter.  He told me that I must identify myself with predator energy and take my power and self-respect back.  Predators respect other predators and usually give space and back off.  I must choose to defend myself on all levels, to set proper boundaries. It may not be necessary to actually fight, but it is my right and responsibility to respect myself and my space.

Holding my eye, he then began walking deliberately, confidently, proudly around his enclosure saying,

“See me.  Walk this way, choose your path consciously, deliberately, with focused intent and purpose.  Use clear sight, stay grounded, and move with confidence.  Own the space around you.  In doing so, you will achieve whatever you need or desire.”

His message had the impact of a sonic boom on my Spirit!  He was exactly right.  His message was so surprising, I had never considered things from that perspective before.  But now?  I realized that by embracing and embodying my fear, I had been energetically attracting negative unwanted dangerous attention.  And a fundamental Universal Truth is that what we focus on expands.  What we fear, if we let it run our lives, will often come to pass because we draw it to us.

With relief, my shoulders straightened as I smiled with joy, and I grew tall, standing proud in my own skin.  I was no longer afraid of my own shadow.  I realized that I am a strong, powerful, confident woman, a leader in my field.  From that moment on, my life changed for the better.  I’ll always remember and be grateful for the komodo dragon’s words of wisdom.

When we know how to talk to animals, we discover that some of the best teaching and advice we’ll ever receive will come from the animals we’ve known, worked with and loved.

They all have something wonderful to teach us.  Learning how to talk to animals is about sharing information energetically and telepathically.  The ability to share life experiences with other beings, no matter what body they are wearing, is a priceless gift and opportunity.  Through the process of connection and communication, it allows us to better understand and KNOW that we are not alone.  We are connected with other sentient intelligent beings.  And, that we can help each other.

Animals of all kinds and species, from the littlest to the biggest, have a lot to say when we know how to talk to them.  Like us, they want to be heard on all levels of their life.  Knowing what animals think, feel and experience can change everything in the way you take care of your pet, and is THE foundation for a great relationship!

My complete Heart School of Animal Communication system illustrates why learning how to talk to animals is such a personal, spiritual journey.  When you know how to talk to animals, they partner up with you so you can solve problems together and enrich each other’s lives by sharing insights, inspiration and deepen your bonding.

5 Simple Steps to Developing Your Intuition by Learning to Listen to Your Gut

A client asked: “I’ve been a Christian for all my life, but recently realized that my beliefs are changing about the divinity of the universe, earth energies, reincarnation, Wicca, and other beliefs and philosophies.  But I’m confused about what the real Truth is because there are so many opinions out there.  I don’t want opinions.  I want knowledge because I want to get the most out of what life I have left in this life time.  How do you fit all of this together and know what the Truth actually is?”

Answer:  In the words of Obi Wan Kenobi (Jedi master), “Truth is Relative.”  What is true for one person at one period in their life may in fact change over time, as they explore and come to know a deeper Absolute Truth and as they evolve.  And what is true for one person may not be true for another.

Spiritual seekers must sort through a lot of information, experience, and beliefs in order to discover what is True. I believe this process continues throughout our whole life, and that we are called to discover Truths similar to a lifelong treasure hunt.  The joy is in the journey of discovery of these Truths, and we call that life.

You want to know the Truth?  Be sure you’re willing to handle the Truth when it comes.  Because when the student is ready, the teacher appears. And the answers are not always easy, nor do they conform to what we thought we knew, what we were expecting, nor do they conform to what we’ve been taught or what we had accepted before or told was true.

Animals have a wisdom all their own that often surpasses human intelligence.  I call these amazing beings angels, teachers and Wise Ones disguised as animals.  Often they know what is true and what is not so they can help guide you on your spiritual journey towards enlightenment, but only when you know how to access their wisdom, hear their thoughts and invite them to share their heart.

Key Truths can be found in every belief, philosophy, or teaching, and even from other species.

They come to us through experience, through seemingly chance encounters, through religious documents, through epiphany’s and breakthroughs of understanding.  They are to be found in movies, in stories, in myths and in books (fiction and non-fiction).

Teachers, gurus, ascended masters and our animals are here to help us connect with and understand Truth.  Our interactions with each other teach us about ourselves and who we truly are, and ultimately guide us to the Truth.

Truths are literally all around you all the time, but they must be tested to discover whether in fact they are only true to a point or in certain situations, or if they are Absolutely True all the way through to the heart of the matter.

No one has all the Truths.  But you do have a way to access and find them for yourself by seeking them diligently and with an open heart and mind, trusting your own intuitive ‘knowing’ and practice testing what you get.  When you learn to trust your own intuition, you will have an internal GPS system that can guide you through what is true, what is True-er, what is Absolute Truth, and what is simply untrue.

Fundamentally, the answers you seek are already inside you.  They dwell within what is called the God Mind, sometimes called the superconscious mind.  To access them, you need only develop your Intuitive Intelligence Quotient (IIQ).

Learning to decipher and discern the information you are given every day from the world around you requires a bit of training.  The more training you get the more confidence you will have in your ability to make sound decisions from your intuition, by listening to your gut.

What is intuition?  And what does listening to our ‘gut’ have to do with truth?

Dictionary.com’s definition of intuition is “A direct perception of the truth, fact, etc., independent of any reasoning process; immediate apprehension or comprehension.”

I believe that the innate gift of our intuition acts like a super computer that is always gathering information much faster than our conscious mind can on its own.  Think of it like this:  Information is energy, and energy can transfer at the speed of light.

Your superconscious and unconscious minds analyze and process more than 90% of all information energetically and almost instantaneously.  Contrast this to the fact that your conscious mind receives only 10% (at best) of the incoming sensory stimuli, and the processing speed of the conscious mind is extremely slow.

An apt analogy here would be to compare a super computer with the highest speed internet possible (your fully functioning innate Intuition) with a 1990’s edition personal computer with dial up (your conscious mind).

It is fascinating to realize that your conscious mind actually recognizes, reevaluates and reinterprets “life” after it has already happened based on prior conceptions, attitudes, expectations and beliefs.  And if the ego mind is given data that doesn’t conform or fit with what it thinks it already knows, then it will either discard it or rewrite it to fit prior expectations and conceptions. Tricky, eh?

That’s why it’s not such a good idea to base decisions on the conscious mind alone without consulting your innate intuitive intelligence as well.

Since your subconscious mind takes in millions of bits of information in mere nanoseconds, it processes this information and gives your conscious mind the filtered data.  If you don’t listen to your intuitive knowing, then you can’t make decisions from a quantum leap perspective.   It happens so quickly that you have a sense of simply “knowing” the right from the wrong, the positive from the negative, the True from the untrue.

For example, have you ever gone somewhere and immediately felt it wasn’t safe?  Your subconscious mind processed something that you didn’t see, hear, smell, touch or taste with your conscious mind, but recognized it as potentially dangerous and sent the signal in a way that your conscious mind could interpret correctly, if you’re paying attention.

Someone recently shared with me how they “feel” a knowingness in their body.  When something is wrong she gets a strong tingly feeling in her chest.  When she needs to make a decision about something she will quiet her mind and ask a question.  If the answer is yes she gets a strong feeling of calmness all over.  She has learned the art of discernment.

5 Simple Steps To Developing Your Intuition

  1. Center yourself and get quiet. Follow your breath, in and out, and relax more with every breath cycle.  To do this well, it is helpful to stand tall and balanced, but if you prefer to sit, that’s ok.  It just may be a little harder at first until you get the hang of it.  Close your eyes and feel the ground beneath your feet, the energies of the earth, and be fully present, right here, right now, nothing added.  Let everything else go.
  2. Connect with your heart (superconscious mind). Imagine that your heart has a direct connection with the Truth, and trust that this is so.
  3. Connect with your gut (unconscious mind). Did you know that your gut possesses neural cells and is in fact your first brain?  Neural cells originated in the gut first when your body was being formed in the womb, then a portion of these cells split off and began to form your spinal cord, then they formed your heart which is also lined with neural cells, then eventually became your head brain.
  4. Connect with the idea, concept, or object that you are curious about and ask your question. Then, invite your body to either Lean In (meaning:  yes I want more of that or I’m drawn to that, it’s okay to go there, it feels true) or Pulling Back (meaning:  no that’s not good for me or I don’t want that, don’t go there, something is wrong or untrue).
  1. Then, simply wait for your intuition (your gut) to signal you with its answer. Be patient.  Receiving your answer can take as long as a second or a minute or two, depending on your ability to be fully present and clear in your request, and how much practice you have.

Leaning in means there’s something there to learn or to know that will lead you to a truth.

Pulling Back means there’s something there that is repellant to your bodymind and intuitive knowing, an untruth, a lie or it’s simply not right for you at this time.

Standing in balance without leaning in or pushing away means your bodymind is neutral on the subject, it’s neither good or bad, positive or negative, true or untrue.  It can also mean you have asked a question that is unclear or the answer isn’t a simple yes, no or neutral.

Everyone has their own unique and innate way of accessing, analyzing and interpreting information.  Learning how to develop your intuition will significantly help you in learning to communicate with and understand animals and the world around you too.

This is why it’s so important to make a decision based on your intuition and not merely on your so called rational logical ego mind.  Your gut knows more than your mind does about what you really need, what is good for you, and what isn’t.

It is definitely worth the investment of time and resources to learn to develop your intuition.  It will help you make the best decisions for yourself, to access higher knowledge and extrasensory information, and can even help save your life.

Things I’ve Learned As An Animal Whisperer By Val Heart

What is an animal whisperer?

I define the term as someone who can hear, feel and see animal’s thoughts.

Can anyone who loves animals become an animal whisperer?

Yes!

How do I know?  I know because animals have been whispering their innermost secrets, thoughts and feelings to me all my life.  And because I teach animal lovers all over the world how to whisper!

What I Learned in the Process of Listening to Animals

When I was four years old, an only child living in a wooded, hilly, rural area overlooking Lake Travis outside Austin, Texas, my orange cat Josie taught me how to respect and understand the world using feline sensibilities.  She was a feral cat who adopted me one bright sunny day.  She fascinated me.  I loved how she walked, how she smelled, and how soft her fur was.  We became best friends even though she was never as comfortable with other people as she was with me.  Together, every day we would snuggle up for a nap and share our thoughts about life’s experiences and insights with each other.

My parakeet Sparky taught me about life from a birds amazing perspective.  Being a bird is a unique experience and very different from being a cat or dog or human.  Sparky showed me what the world looks like from a bird’s eye point of view.  His fascination with mirrors and shiny objects made me laugh, and guess what?  His lasting legacy to me is that to this day, I too have a fascination with mirrors and shiny objects. I wasn’t very successful in teaching him to speak English words even though I played language speaking records for him over and over on my little red record player.  He however was very successful in teaching me the language of the heart in the form of animal whispers.

A family of white mice taught me about the intricacies of living in a tightly knit family group.  As a lonely only child growing up in the country with no human playmates close by, their whispered stories about family intrigued me very much.  The mice were compassionate, caring, playful and highly sensitive.  When they shared their viewpoint of the world with me, I felt the coziness and peacefulness of the nest.  I learned survival tips and how important it was to always have cover and an escape path.  They were adventurous as individuals, and they loved their family so much.  They each had roles to play for their family, and the matriarch was very special and wise.  They grieved their losses, and celebrated new babies.  They also whispered to me lessons about the dangers of overpopulation!

When I was seven years old, my family rescued a gorgeous German Shepherd dog named Fritz.  A wonderful animal whisperer, he taught me how to experience life from a dog’s viewpoint.   Strong of character, loyal by nature and possessing a big loving heart, I admired him so much!  I decided I wanted to be a dog like him when I grew up.  I would get down on all fours and we would race around the yard chasing each other playing tag.  Together we would laugh and bark at each other, until we collapsed in a heap in the yard.  He whispered to me about his abusive first owners, why he kept running away from home and how he spent his time when he was wandering the countryside.  He whispered about the other creatures he met, what he learned and the neighborhood news.  He taught me how to smell and scent the air, how to listen to vibration, frequencies and what the sounds meant.  He helped teach me how to life a good life.  One day on his travels, visiting his many friends, he discovered a young pregnant hippie girl living in a tent in Hippy Hollow.  She was all alone and afraid.  She needed him more than we did, so he made the choice to become her dog.  I grieved his loss from my life, but I honored and respected his decision.

My Welsh pony mare Maisie coached me through my difficult teenage years when I suffered from manic depression and suicidal tendencies.  After a rough day, I would sneak out of the house at night after my parents went to sleep and go to the stable. Wrapping my arms around Maisie’s neck I would hold on to her, burying my face in her beautiful black mane and cry my heart out.  She would turn her beautiful head and look at me intently with her big brown eyes that saw through to my soul.  Accessing her quiet strength, profound wisdom and love, we would discuss the situations I was struggling with.  Carefully she would listen, and then she would whisper exactly what I most needed to know.  Her truths, insights and viewpoints were brilliant, her sense of humor quirky and fun.  I left always feeling that I could cope better with life’s challenges.  Soon I would feel more peaceful and clear, ready to go to sleep and face another day.

The extraordinary animal whispers from nature and the wildlife surrounding me taught me how to be a better human being.  Accessing a lifetime of listening to animal whisperers, I now use my vast experience to save lives, heal and grow.  The super power of true animal communication, aka animal whispering, from heart to heart, mind to mind is a life changing experience.

Would you like to have super awesome animal whispering super powers like me?  All you need to do is learn how to talk to animals, how to open your heart and connect, and they will whisper their secrets to you too!  Start here at The Heart School of Animal Communication

Multidimensional Healing With The BodyTalk System for Animals and People By Val Heart

Stacie was nervous and unsure of what to expect, dreading that Val Heart might confirm the bad news.  Her friends, family and vet told her she was crazy, that she should just put her sick cat to sleep and get it over with.  But something told her that wasn’t the right answer. Her sister had badgered her for months to ask me for help and she’d finally given in.  She called Val for animal communication help because she wanted to find out what was really wrong and what her cat really needed from her.

Her heart breaking, she was losing sleep, couldn’t focus, and was having trouble working.  A young woman, her own health was bad and getting worse.  Her doctors had been unable to help her because they weren’t sure what was wrong with her.  She was at her wits end, feeling like she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.  Her family didn’t know what to do to help her but were extremely concerned.

When Val spoke with Stacie’s cat, we discovered that she was in bad shape primarily because of a very poor diet of commercial ‘junk food for cats.’  Her human thought she was giving her a good food brand, but in fact it was full of chemicals, preservatives, by-products, coatings, dyes and flavorings.  The cat’s digestive system was collapsing under the toxic load, and her kidneys were in danger of giving up altogether.

Compounding the problem was all the worry, fear and fretting her human was doing which wasn’t helping things.  Cats typically are here to serve us by protecting us psychically and emotionally.  When we are out of balance, overwhelmed with stress, or under some kind of psychic or emotional attack, our cat companions will act out, telling us to wake up and pay attention.

Our animal companions are in many ways our best friends, and they often know us better than anyone else.  They choose to spend their lives with us, helping us heal, loving us when we’re sick or sad or mad, often showing us what unconditional love means.  They touch our hearts and help us find our way when we’re lost.

Unfortunately, they also mirror our issues and wounds, reflect our pain, stress and anger, sponge our grief, sadness and dis-ease into their own bodies.  When they get sick or act out with behavior that is inappropriate or even life threatening, they are asking for help, telling us that the load they are carrying for us is more than they can bear.

The good news was that Stacie’s cat friend wasn’t ready to die, but simply needed an improved diet, less worry and emotional upset, and they both needed a few healing treatments with the BodyTalk System for animals and people.

What is BodyTalk for Animals?

The BodyTalk System, developed by IBA Global Healing, is an astonishingly simple, safe and effective form of holistic therapy that allows the body’s energy systems to be re-synchronized so that they can operate as nature intended.  Each system, cell and atom is supposed to be in constant communication with each other at all times, allowing us to be adaptable and flexible in life.

The benefits of a Heart Style BodyTalk session are especially designed for animals and the entire family too.  As is the case with human beings, exposure to stress can lead to disease and malfunctioning within an animal’s body. The understanding that animals deserve their own type of BodyTalk inspired the evolution of BodyTalk for Animals.

Through exposure to the stresses of day-to-day life, these lines of communication become compromised, leading to a decline in physical, emotional and/or mental health.  It is critical that these systems be perfectly balanced for the body to effectively coordinate the billions of synchronized activities per second that are necessary to maintain optimum health.  Reconnecting these lines of communication enables the body’s mechanisms to function at optimal levels, preventing disease and rapidly accelerating the healing process.

The BodyTalk system for animals can be used as a stand-alone therapy to help with many health problems, or be seamlessly integrated into any health care system to increase its effectiveness and promote faster healing.  It is non-invasive, objective in application, and works quickly and effectively on humans and animals alike.

BodyTalk for animals in combination with animals communication and intuitive scanning has proven to be extremely helpful in addressing many behavior problems, as well as many common health problems such as allergies, environmental sensitivities, dyslexia, chronic viruses and infections, depressed immune systems, brain trauma and dysfunction, sugar metabolism disorders, arthritis, musculo-skeletal pain, emotional, behavioral and psychological problems, among many other problems.

Stacie said:  “Literally, after a thirty-minute conversation with you, my entire life changed.  In giving my cats a voice during their physical and emotional challenges, you shed a powerful light on my own situation. You gave me the precise information I needed to experience a dramatic shift in consciousness that has promoted healing on all levels for me and my cats… I cannot believe how much you have impacted my life in just two brief sessions!”

In addition to Val’s animal communication and intuitive scanning services, as an advanced PaRama level BodyTalk practitioner she also specializes in Human Animal BodyMind Connection and Assessment work.  Her unique understanding and application of the BodyTalk™ System of healing therapies for both humans and their animal companions is often an extraordinary experience with amazing and fast results.  Because of the Human Animal BodyMind Connection mirroring principle, Val often requests that the human caregiver/owner receive treatment first, then works with their animals to get the best results as quickly as possible.

Wildlife CSI Laurel Neme, Animal Forensic Investigator on The Real Dr. Doolittle Show™

Is there a Real Dr Doolittle? Yes, there is! Welcome to our Show on Talking to Animals!

I want to teach you what I know so you can learn how to talk to your animals, why it’s important to hear your animals viewpoints and how reconnecting with animals makes you a better human.

Reconnecting with animals helps us be better humans, and is an exciting journey into Self, the nature and reality of our world, a behind-the-scenes look at the complex interactions between us all.

Any animal lover can learn how to communicate with animals, you can too! Learn how to connect at the heart for a magical bonding experience with your animals.

Today I’m speaking with Laurel Neme

laurel-nemeLaurel Neme has camped in the Kalahari, investigated walrus carcasses on Alaska’s Bering Sea beaches, and gotten lost in the Amazon jungle with the Brazilian Federal Police. She works with Interpol’s Wildlife Crime Working Group, the St. Louis Zoo, the American Museum of Natural History along with various universities.

She has more than a decade of experience as a consultant working in over a dozen African countries, where she’s been feted with chickens by villagers and shared stories with rangers on the frontlines of wildlife poaching. She consults on wildlife and natural resource management and serves as a Fellow at the University of Vermont’s Institute for Environmental Diplomacy and Security.

And, she is the author of a wonderful book called ANIMAL INVESTIGATORS: How the World’s First Wildlife Forensics Lab is Solving Crimes and Saving Endangered Species. It has a wonderful foreword by Richard Leakey, Has been endorsed by Jane Goodall and many others.

It is a “CSI for wildlife” that has been featured on ABC News Nightline, C-SPAN, and NPR’s Science Friday. She also hosts “The WildLife,” a weekly radio show that explores the mysteries of the animal world through interviews with scientists and other wildlife investigators.

She also reports for Earth Negotiations Bulletin, where she covers the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).

Perhaps because she holds a Master’s degree in public policy from the University of Michigan and a PhD in public and international affairs from Princeton University, she has a special place in her heart for wolverines and tigers (listen to find out why!).

You will learn:

* The Real Animal CSI – how wildlife forensics is helping to save endangered species and the big business of wildlife trafficking.

* What you can do on a daily basis to help the Earth’s animals and ecosystems.

* Why should you should care about wildlife trafficking – and what you can do to help. You’ll be surprised at what you could be doing in your everyday life that contributes to wildlife trafficking.

* How wildlife forensics differs from human forensics.

* How a forensic lab works.

“The WildLife” hosted by Laurel Neme airs on WOMM-LP, 105.9 FM in Burlington, Vermont every Monday from 1-2 pm EST. Live stream available on www.theradiator.org. http://www.LaurelNeme.com
