Teaching Children to Respect Animals Today – Contribution from freelance writer Jenny Holt

Take It Outdoors to Bond Spiritually With Your Pet

Use nature to connect spiritually with your pet and increase the tight bond the two of you already share. When you own a pet, you know there is a spiritual side that he or she uses to express emotions and communicate with you in his or her unique style.

Fostering that connection helps create a stronger spiritual bond with your pet, and many people desire this connection. Using nature for spiritual connection is proven to improve health and increase happiness in both humans and pets.

Begin With a Walk and Discover a New World

Most dog breeds love going for walks with their human. There are so many new smells to investigate, and the exercise is great for both of you. Choose a path that lets you meander through nature, even if it is only a wooded path through a park. The refreshing air and rejuvenating flora will bring you and your dog closer. If you are more of a cat person, use the cat’s natural outdoor time to build a spiritual connection. Discover where she goes by going outside with her. Get on the ground and check out her favorite bed in the flowers, or pet her while she relaxes in the sun. You’ll have a chance to connect with your cat’s natural instincts and reestablish yourself as a part of her family.

Take Them Out to Pasture

Take larger pets, such as horses (if you happen to have one), out to pasture for some training. Removing the animal from the stable for training gives him more space to move. He will show you he appreciates the time outdoors and bond with you through the training exercises. The human and pet connection will strengthen while you’re outside in the open air, working with the horse. Simply relaxing outdoors with a pet will help solidify the bond between you. Pets love to be by our side, and allowing her to be there with you will make her feel that you will always be there for her. Sit outside in the shade, talking to your pet, or just staying quiet. The absence of distractions and the serenity of the outdoors will help bring you closer to your pet.

Take Him With You

If possible, take your pet with you when you leave the house. When you follow standard guidelines for pets in the car and heat, your pet can go almost everywhere with you. Some stores allow leashed pets, so find out which ones will allow your friend. Getting out and about with your pet brings you closer as companions, and reaffirms the spirit that you are there for each other. Having a pet means having a best friend through every circumstance. Spend as much time together to solidify this bond.

Why Are Cat’s So Afraid Of Water? – Guest post by Amber Kingsley

We’ve all been fed so many “old wives tales” over the years, especially when it comes to cats. Some are bizarrely superstitious, like black cats are bad luck, or even weirder, that they steal the breath away from newborn infants and babies. Or how about the “fact” that they have nine lives or always land on their feet. But one of the better known cat-associated tales is that they hate water.

While it’s true many breeds of cats are not necessarily water-friendly, there are many that do enjoy going for a swim, especially in hot and arid living environments. For example, in the wild kingdom, you’ll often see tigers enjoying a swim, even preying on one of their favorite foods – fish. But on the other hand, lions and leopards will usually avoid rivers and streams to steer clear of some of the very few predators that pose a potential risk to them, like crocodiles.

DEEPER THAN DOMESTIC

Since our more domesticated and docile kitties are considered distant descendants of these big cats, it wouldn’t be fair to say that ALL felines despise water or that cats shouldn’t be leary of H₂O as an instinctual trait. Let’s delve deeper into this dilemma and see what we find underneath these murky waters.

Animal Planet tells us an irrational fear that some domesticated cats have about water may have  come from their masters. Many humans that have been shielding them from the elements over the centuries since we have adopted them as our pets. We’ve been protecting them from heavy rainstorms and other exposure to these types of wet experiences, and so it’s believed they never accepted some of Mother Nature’s fury or learned to evolve in order to deal with it.

Water

HUMAN INTERVENTION

Further water annoyance problems come from people who use water as a punishment for cats that may claw furniture or display other destructive behaviors and they squirt them with this liquid as a non-violent deterrent. Perhaps they were given a forced bathing experience or got caught outside during a torrential downpour when they were more accustomed to being a lap cat.

Regardless of the nature of this exposure, they may have been dealt a raw deal when it comes to playing in the water. But cats, curious by nature, can wind up in desperate need of a bath and as their masters, we’re the ones laiden with this responsibility. Whether they wound up in a sticky situation or came in contact with a smelly critter like a skunk, we need to respond with appropriate cleanup measures that require soap and water.

WATER TORTURE OR TREAT?

Despite some of them having an aversion to being completely immersed in water, many cats find that hypnotising “drip-drip-drip” of a faucet fascinating and some enjoy laying in empty, cool sinks during hotter months. Either way, cats still need water to survive, just like any other animal and are not necessarily scared of getting wet.

Water

Unlike dogs, cats don’t really need much time in the bathtub due to their ritualistic grooming routines, but to save the drama for mama, we can help them overcome their fear if we start young. Owners can reassure them that water isn’t necessarily a trauma when they’re still youngsters. Start them out when they’re kittens and try introducing them by rubbing a soothing, warm washcloth other them.

Introduce them into temperature-appropriate water temperatures and refrain from dunking them completely until they begin to become accustomed to the wetness. While they may take to a litter box almost immediately, getting them used to being wet is easier when they’re just kittens. By introducing your cat to water at a younger age, you could help them to be more tolerate in the future.

5 Quick Tips on How to Enjoy a Good Run with Your Dog

Humans and their canine companions need their daily dose of exercise to be healthy and fit. It’s common knowledge and necessary to walk your dog at least once if not twice a day because canines are storehouses of excess energy and they need the stimulus that the sights, scents, and sounds which the outdoors can provide.

When it comes to physical activities, there are a number of things that you can do with your furry workout buddy like running, hiking, swimming, and biking. The simplest and probably one of the best things to do is to run with your canine companion.

Why Running?

It’s a fact that our modern lifestyle has rendered most humans and even their pets obese or prone to obesity. Weight issues are dragging us and our canine friends down. Running in the outdoors in a park or by the lake or in the countryside with fresh air hitting the face and toning every muscle in the body is not just the better way to get in shape and burn the excess fat but also an enjoyable one to spend quality playtime with your pet.

So, get ready to don those running shoes and do give running with your dog a try. But before you run, it’s important to know what to expect, how to train your pooch and enjoy the run with each other.

1. Check with your pet’s vet: It is important to ascertain whether your dog is fit to run regularly. Consult your vet on what’s safe and healthy for your dog when you run with him, appropriate dietary recommendations, warm up tips, and how early you can start them on running training. It’s important not to start when your pooch is very young, because the hard/ asphalt surfaces and running tracks in urban areas may not be conducive to the growth of the dog’s bones and joints. And a countryside or a dirt trail may not be exactly safe for your pup.

2. Start slowly and steadily – Don’t forget the warmups: When you rush your dog into running too soon, then you expose your pet to the risk of injuries. Never skip the warmups, because they help in flexing the muscles. Begin with a light jog and graduate steadily into running at a comfortable pace.

3. Take short breaks: It’s important to carry water bottles to give yourself and your dog adequate water breaks. If you combine some playing and fetching activities, both of you will enjoy the breaks and this could enthuse your canine partner into running.

4. Train your dog to follow some basic commands: It is imperative that you teach your dog some basic commands like ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘stop’, ‘leave it’ etc., and see to it that you train them to be disciplined and follow your instructions completely. If you are finding it difficult to train, then consult a professional trainer to help you out.

5. Try getting a hands-free dog leash: A hands-free dog leash spells convenience and independence. These leashes are specially designed to run and walk your dog comfortably without having to tug on a leash all the time. It safer and helps your dog stay connected to you while enjoying a good run. It helps maintain balance and prevents toppling over.

Observe your dog and take cues, do not overlook any warning signs from your pet to ensure that your dog is enjoying the run as much as you do. Watch out for their paws, take adequate protection against ticks, and keep a bowl of water ready to clean the paws once you both are back from running. Have fun!

The 10 Most Common Cat Diseases And Their Symptoms Infographic

As a cat owner, one of your biggest priorities is making sure your fur buddy stays healthy for the long haul. However, sometimes that’s easier said than done. Since cats are naturally curious, they tend to get into trouble, eat things that may not be good for them, or have adventures with other cats. Any or all of these things can lead to a problem, an illness or a disease, and if you don’t know what to look for, you may miss a potentially serious condition.

One of the best courses of action is knowledge and prevention, and one of the best ways of prevention is learning about the 10 most common cat diseases. These common maladies include rabies, feline leukemia, diabetes, infectious peritonitis and several others. Knowing these diseases and their symptoms gives you a heads-up on figuring out what may be wrong with kitty, and whether or not a trip to the vet is warranted.

Learning About The Diseases

Knowing about the diseases can be the difference between making good or bad decisions, and may also lead towards effective treatment. For example, if your cat has an upper respiratory infection, symptoms such as coughing and sneezing can generally be managed at home. For something like worms, which may cause bloating, blood in the stool or a potbellied look, a trip to the vet for proper diagnosis and deworming will be in order.

Your Cat Depends On You

Cats are generally low maintenance pets that sometimes need little or no specific vet care except for regular check-ups. But when they come down with an illness or a disease, they become totally dependent on you and the decision you make to get them well again. Essentially, you have become their primary caregiver, and it is a role you must accept if you choose to have a cat.

By learning about the most common cat diseases, you will positively impact the life of your cat. Let’s face it, the quality of life that your cat has, no matter how long they live, depends completely on you. They rely on you to feed them, water them and take care of them, even if they become sick. For that, they will give you a lifetime of meows and purrs, and for a cat lover, it doesn’t get any better than that.

Adopting a shelter pet saves two lives

If you want to get a pet that can make your life more meaningful and complete, you should know that adopting a shelter pet is a great alternative to buying one.

Animal shelters are full of happy and healthy animals that can’t wait to show you love and loyalty, which is why many people give it the thumbs up. Besides that, adopting means that you don’t support puppy mills – commercial dog breeding facilities which put profit over the well-being of dogs. If you want to know why adopting is so beneficial, both for the animal and its owner, just stay with us and keep on reading. Here is what you need to know about adopting a shelter pet.

Shelter-Pet

You’ll save not one, but two animals this way

Millions of cats and dogs are being euthanized annually in the United States for one main reason – there simply isn’t enough space in shelters for all of them, since a small number of people consider adoption when looking for a pet. If you’re in two minds about whether or not to adopt, just try to see it from a bit different perspective. Adopting a shelter pet means not only that you’ll save its life, but also a life of another animal which will come to its place and get a chance to find a family, too. You’ll give these animals a great opportunity for happy life, which is a good deed you should be proud of. As already stated, adoption saves at least two animal lives, but the fact is that it has an impact on many more – especially when we’re talking about their owners’. Many research institutes, such as National Center for Health Research, point out that having a pet in your home has a number of significant advantages when it comes to promoting your health.

You’ll save yourself as well

The most obvious benefits of pet ownership are love and companionship, which is exactly what you can get if you adopt a shelter pet. Dogs and cats can provide unconditional love to their owners, and they’ll undoubtedly make them feel happy, fulfilled, and grateful. Having a pet has many more benefits, and researchers suggest that a caretaking role gives people sense of purpose and responsibility, which further contributes to their overall well-being. So, you’ll have to face important challenges and decisions like choosing good pet food, toys, collars, leashes, and other necessities.

Companion animals can improve your heart health by regulating heart rate during stressful situations, as well as by lowering your blood pressure. Some studies even showed that having a dog in your home can lower your blood pressure more efficiently than taking blood pressure medication, which is another good reason for people with similar health issues to get a pet.

Shelter-Pet
The benefits of adopting a shelter pet are numerous – apart from saving its life, you can also save a life of another animal that comes to its place, which is one of the most important advantages. Besides that, adoption can give you an opportunity to be loved, fulfilled, and more mindful. Saving an animal life often turns out to be saving a human life as well, which is exactly what makes it so valuable.

Helping Your Dog Settle Into Your New Home Takes Patience

When you move to a new home, you’ve got a lot of things to unpack and get settled. But you’re dog is going through some changes, too. He needs to adjust to his new home and yard. You can help him with the adjustment with just a few easy steps.

Before you move in, though, make sure your home is safe for your pooch. Dog-proofing your home is very similar to baby-proofing your home. Move things higher up and into places that your dog can’t reach. This includes candles, plants, knick-knacks and pill bottles. Move things out of the way of windows if your dog loves to look out at the world. Baby gates, outlet covers and cabinet door locks are all things that can help you pup-proof your home, just like you would for a new baby.

Your yard needs to be safe, too. Walk the fence and make sure there are no holes that your dog can escape through. If there are, make sure you repair them before you let your dog run free in the yard. Make sure there aren’t random pieces of metal or glass lying in the yard that your dog can step on and get injured. Clean up any pet refuse left behind by a previous occupant.

Now that your new home is safe, it’s time to get your dog settled. Bring his beds and toys from his previous home and put them in a place your dog can easily find them. Don’t wash them before the move — your dog will find comfort in the familiar scents. If you can, let him visit the home before the move. Take him on a walk around the home on a leash and let him investigate. He’ll want to smell every corner of the home, and that’s OK. It’s how he learns.

Make sure to spend a lot of time with your dog. Moving can cause a lot of stress, and your dog picks up on that. Take frequent breaks with your pup and reassure him that you’re still with him. Plus, loving on your dog helps ease your own stress.

When it’s time to leave your dog alone in the home for the first time, don’t leave him loose in his new environment, especially if you still have a lot of unpacking to do. Keep him in a kennel or in a small room with his things. There are too many items for a dog to get into around the house, which can cause damage to the home and your dog.

Take him on a walk in his new neighborhood, but don’t overdo it. Taking him around the block will let him acclimate to his new surroundings and allow him to take in all the smells of his new home. He’ll get to meet his new dog neighbors as well as get a good idea of who and what his new area holds. But start with short walks and build up to the bigger ones. This will keep him from becoming overwhelmed in his new surroundings. Tiring out your dog is always a good way to help him settle down.

Try to keep your pet’s routine as familiar as possible. After a big move is not the time to throw in a big change of schedule, unless it can’t be helped. Try feeding and walking at the same time and in the same order. This will give your dog a good sense of continuity between his old life and new.

The most important thing to remember when helping your dog get acclimated is to be patient. Some dogs adjust more quickly than others, and that’s OK. You know your dog better than anyone, and you know what he needs. Give him lots of love and understanding, and he’ll be fine. Before long, your dog will be right at home in his new abode.

11 Best Ideas to Start a Pet Business in 2017 (Did You Spot Them All?)

Are you passionate about pets? Would you love to earn a living from a Pet Business? Do you suddenly feel despondent because you sucked at biology and couldn’t become a vet? Or perhaps you don’t have the capital to open up a pet store? Fear not. Your dreams are not dashed.  Here are some of the best ideas for pet business start-ups in 2017 suitable for every talent.

Specialized Strolling Services

Active people who enjoy the company of dogs can advertise a walking service. Take dogs for a stroll around the block or to the park.  Some have taken this further and become coaches offering canine clients full workout sessions! You can even take dogs out in a stroller as this is one of the in-things for 2017!

Canine/Cat Chef, Cook and Caterer

Are you a whiz in the kitchen? Why not cook or bake treats exclusively for pets? You could make your culinary delights healthier or more affordable than major brands. An up-and-coming trend for vegetarians is to feed their animals the same type of cuisine. Why not offer customization and make once-off birthday cakes?  Best of all is you don’t need to a bakery or restaurant. Sell your kitchen creations online or start a traveling fast food outlet.

Professional Poop Picker

Pet BusinessYou don’t need any special talents to provide a poop scooper service. Owners will actually pay you to come clean the dog doody from their yards regularly. Some companies even offer cat litter box cleaning.

Furry Friend Fashionista

If you are good at sewing or knitting, you can make one of a kind pet fashions. Think coats, scarves, hats, bandanas and collars. What’s more, you can be creative and coin it with costumes for special occasions like Christmas and Halloween. Again, you can sell your creations online.  Crafty individuals that aren’t that fond of fashion can look into making toys instead.

Canine/Cat Cleaner, Clipper, Comber, and Cropper

Pets need grooming. If you enjoy bathing, trimming, shaving, nail clipping and basic coat care you have a business. Hip groomers even dye their furry clients in out of the ordinary shades!  No parlor required either – practice your profession at your client’s home or have a mobile unit.

Trusted Trainer and Tutor

This is the only one on our list where certification is preferable but so is patience. Trainers can specialize in obedience, agility, or housebreaking. One-on-one tutoring can take place in the comfort of your student’s home or you can give group classes in the park or other community locations.

Canine/Cat Caretaker

Here are two options. The first is to babysit pets in-house when the owners are out or you Pet Businesscould run a doggy daycare center where furbabies are dropped off for a few hours.  This is not the same as a pet hotel where animals stay for an extended period of time but that is another pet business idea.

Professional Pet Photographer

Pet BusinessDo you have an eye for a great picture behind a camera’s lens? If so, you can offer to take beautiful portraits of beloved animals as a pet photographer. Let your creativity flow and pose pets in interesting locations with accessories to boot.  If you can paint or sketch you can do the same and give folks a breathtaking memory to display on the wall.

In Conclusion

Are you inspired? Have you found your calling? Actually, I have made my pet passion my money maker by blogging about them! With the internet nowadays, the world is your oyster. Even better there are like-minded people who have businesses marketing pet businesses like Pet Business Solutions! They will be sure to help you and don’t forget to tell your vet. So… what’s stopping you?

This is nothing short of a miracle! {Ever feel ill, fatigued, like you might be coming down with a disease? Check this out!}

Have you ever wondered why so much of my work is focused on healing?

fatiguedTrue confession: I’ve spent much of my life feeling fatigued, ill and battling various diseases including Lyme Disease, Epstein Barr/chronic fatigue, adrenal exhaustion, diabetes, cardio syncope, and many more… all the while working to recover from multiple serious, life threatening injuries.

I was forced to begin learning about alternative healing therapies because traditional allopathic medical practices have failed me miserably for most of my life.

That catalyst changed the course and direction of my life. In large part this is the driving force that helped me master so many alternative healing therapies and approaches to wellness.

So it shouldn’t surprise you to know that I have a very keen and vested interest in discovering better ways to help us and our animals heal, and that I continue to search for even better, faster more effective ways to heal.

Which brings me to my question in today’s post:

Why aren’t more doctors prescribing oxygen?

Yes, you read that correctly…

Let me explain:

Back in 1931, a man named Dr. Otto Warburg won the Nobel Prize for work proving cancer is caused by a lack of oxygen in your cells.

In fact, he stated in his book, “The Prime Cause and Prevention of Cancer” that…

“The cause of cancer is no longer a mystery, we know it occurs whenever any cell is denied 60% of its oxygen requirements”

And guess what?

There is documentation and proof – showing that oxygen therapy works – going all the way back to the late 1800’s.

So now you’re probably wondering, if the antidote for cancer is so easy, how come we haven’t heard about it.

The answer is simple:

You can’t make money out of oxygen therapy.

Yes, the harsh reality, is that the medical pharmaceutical industry doesn’t make money out of cures, it makes money out of treatments.

And the best way for them to line their pockets…

…is for YOU (and your pet) to stay sick as long as possible.

Otherwise they would be bankrupt overnight!

But THIS is so cool, it’s changing everything

And they are deadly serious about this, there are countless stories of people being hammered into the ground and sued into oblivion, for having the audacity to talk about oxygen therapy.

It’s no wonder if you’ve never heard of this treatment before.

But there’s also another reason why very few people are using oxygen therapy. And that’s because this is not something you can purchase from the supermarket shelves.

Truth is, up until now, getting proper oxygen therapy was almost impossible.

Unless you went for this…

I mean your only real option would be to lie overnight in a Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber, but the problem is these are extremely expensive…plus they aren’t available in many places.

Also, if you want to totally reverse your illness, you’d have to spend hours in one of these chambers, every other day.

The other option is “Oxygenated Water”, but the issue with these products is that they don’t actually contain any oxygen.

How they work is that they contain a special chemical, which, when it comes into contact with your stomach acid, breaks apart and releases oxygen molecules…which then enter your bloodstream.

The problem is, this process depends on the amount of acid in your stomach.

So it’s kind of hit and miss for most people, but there is a way around this.

In the last few years there have been tremendous leaps in technology to make the world less toxic.

And one of these new technologies is something called “Stabilized Active Oxygen”.

What this technology does, is allow oxygen to exist in a natural safe, non-chemical liquid so no matter where you put that liquid (For example, in your tea, coffee or juice) the oxygen is there to do it’s magic.

And the good news is that you can now purchase a supplement, which uses this technology to deliver oxygen directly into your bloodstream.

If you’d like to learn more about this miracle supplement, plus how oxygen therapy works and what it can do for you…

…go here next.

It’s truly fascinating reading and might just save your life.

NOTE: It’s not advised for animals, just humans.

Much love to you and yours!

Val

Is it possible to melt fat out of your fat cells…? [personal story about my struggle with weight]

This is SO cool! I’m excited to share it with you, because it intrigues me so much.

My weight has yo-yoed up and down ever since I was pregnant when I was 25 years old. At 5’3”, I weighed as much as 165 pounds at one point. WAY too much weight for me, I felt terrible. I started dropping weight with JJ Virgin’s Elimination program but then plateaued and it started creeping back up. Argh!

Then I discovered the Keto diet and it worked really well for awhile… then I plateaued again and weight started creeping back up. Again… ARGH!!

Then I started exploring supplements and finally! I’m getting results and dropping weight has been almost effortless

Recently I discovered that there’s a nutrient – called a miracle nutrient — that FORCES any fat cell, to release fat. And it also FORCES muscles to use that fat for fat-burning fuel. WOW!!

Melt-Fat

Researchers at Harvard were even able to WATCH fat come out of fat cells when they tested it in a petri dish. Yet, it is completely NATURAL, NON-TOXIC has NO SIDE EFFECTS.

In fact, it helps REDUCE insulin resistance and prevents diabetes, reduce arterial plaque, Improve digestion, reduce wrinkles and acn, Improve eye health, and lower bad cholesterol.

Now get this…It is has only been recently discovered. But only a few have been able to manufacture it at a cost you can afford. Harvard is even trying to get a patent on it. That’s how powerful it is.

Now my friend, Derek, found an ingenious way to get this nutrient to you. And and the way he does it makes it easy and effortless. But as you now know, he can’t claim it cures diseases.

What you CAN do is learn how it works, where to find it, and hear people’s miraculous stories from using it. Check it out here…

So after checking it out, I’ve decided to try this supplement and see what happens. Usually I try things like this on myself or with close friends and only AFTER I’ve experienced it myself so I feel confident in sharing it with you…

However…

I’m feeling so jazzed about this that I decided to share it with you now. Want to experiment with me? I’ll report back how my progress goes, and you tell me what happens for you too!

If you have any interest in reducing stubborn fat that doesn’t respond to anything, and want to prevent them from coming back, you MUST hear the whole story. It can save your life. Check it out…

Note: It’s not been tested for animals… yet. So don’t give it to overweight pets, okay?

Much love to you and your furry, hairy, feathered and scaly friends.

Note: Occasionally I will mention a product other than mine where I might receive some compensation for taking the time and trouble to tell you about it. But please know that I always do research the product or company first and will only recommend it if I think it is truly worthwhile. I am taking this product personally, and I’d love to hear how it goes for you too. Post your progress here!

Want to Choose the Best Feeding Method For Your Dog? Here is How

Feeding your pet is a fundamental aspect of the relationship between a pet owner and their pet. As a key to an animal’s survival, the way they feed pretty much determines their levels of; happiness, health and the entire state of wellness.

Choosing the most appropriate feeding method for your dog may, however, prove to be troublesome given the different challenging factors such as your personal schedule as a pet owner or your dog’s feeding preferences.

Different dogs have different feeding patterns, and their preferential differences usually based on breed, age or initial dog training. The following are the available tips on how to choose the best feeding method for a dog, to help you figure out how best to feed your dog while considering the challenges in your lifestyle as a pet owner.

Free Feeding Method

Are you a dog owner with a busy schedule, and are not always at home? Well, then this is the perfect pet feeding solution in this challenge of your lifestyle. The free feeding method entails, filling your dog’s food bowl, which allows it to feed whenever it feels hungry. This way your dog can feed when you are not around, and you can refill the dish when you get back.

However, this method has challenges of its own. For one, this method limits your dog’s food to only dry food. That is because wet food has the risk of going bad which is a health hazard to your pet just to say the least.

A side bowl filled with plenty of water is a proper recommendation. Another issue is the risk of obesity since some animals have the tendency of eating beyond their full capacity. Also, if you have more than one dog, then this is not the recommendable method for you.

Dogs have a dominating tendency over fellow dogs and having two alone in the house without any supervision; the likely result is the more aggressive one bullying the other one especially over meals.

Scheduled Feeding Method

Now, this is a preferable method if you have a predictable schedule which you abide by well enough to make it home by your dog’s meal time. So, just like the name suggests this method entails feeding your dog at regular and predictable intervals just like breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Normally under this approach, the number of meals are three to four a day, standard to avoid either extended periods of hunger or over feeding.

Scheduled feeding method is considered to be a healthier way for your pet since it enables you to control the amount of food your dog eats per meal. That makes it a control method for overeating and ultimate obesity.

Scheduled feeding is applicable in two different versions: One, you can choose to control the time by putting an excess amount of food in the dog’s bowl for ten to twenty minutes which is usually enough for it to feed, then you take away the remaining food. Secondly, you can just put a specific amount of food every time you feed the dog. The recurrence of this feeding method may, however, prove to be tiresome.

The scheduled feeding method is also highly recommended for dogs under prescription drugs. That is because it enables the mixing of the medication to the food at the prescribed intervals, as well as lessening the struggle of giving the medication separately.

Meal Feeding Method

Now, this method is somewhat similar to the scheduled feeding method with the little distinction that the meal feeding method is done specifically when you the pet owner have your meals as well. That makes the number of meals range from two to three. Yes, I can be two; which is during breakfast and dinner. Apart from the other advantages of this method which have mentioned above in the scheduled feeding category, this approach also controls the habit of begging at the dining table which as a pet owner you may have experienced.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is important to take all considerations in choosing the most appropriate feeding method for your dog. And by all considerations what it is not just the aspect of your convenience but also your dog’s health, age and even breed among other things. If you find it hard to pick one, then it is advisable to visit a veterinarian for guidance.

At some point, you might even have to consider shifting methods with transformations such as age. In the end, whatever tips on how to choose the best feeding method for a dog you pick, do not forget to serve clean water with it at all times.
